destination happiness

Happiness -- my simple wish for you in 2011!

The set above is one I created earlier this year for a charity auction. It features several of my most loved Hero Arts background stamps -- Friend Definition, Flourish, and Raindrop. I stamped the messages (from this awesome set) onto canvas, tore the edges, and then stitched them onto the cards. They maybe look a little like clothing tags (?) Various flowers and clear buttons finish these off. Super simple -- the way I make all my card sets. :)

hero arts 2011 catalog blog hop

Hello and welcome to the next stop on the 2011 Hero Arts Catalog Blog Hop! I hope you're enjoying the hop so far!

Today I'm going to show you how you can use these four stamps from the NEW 2011 Hero Arts Catalog...

...to create a set of simple, colorful thank you cards that would be perfect for gift giving! Tuck six or so of these into a glassine bag, tie with ribbon, and you have a quick yet thoughtful gift.

These come together so easily! Here's a closer look at some of the yummy new stamps I used...

  • The flower and leaves are from the new clear set called Blossom Art  (CL495) -- definitely a colorer's dream! Here I colored very simply by applying Distress Inks directly to a piece of watercolor paper, misting with water, and then applying darker ink around the edges.
  • That fabulous text stamped on the card base is a cling background that will cover an entire card front in one shot. I will use this one a bunch. Thank You Definition (CG268), I thank you for coming into my life. :) Here I stamped the text vertically for something unexpected.
  • The Edged Fabric with Flowers (CG247) is so sweet with its dainty floral floral pattern and pinked edges. Looks great tone on tone. Next time I want to try stamping it on fabric or canvas for a textured look.
  • And finally, the sentiment comes from an awesome trio of clings called Friends & Treasures (CG277). I just love mixed font designs and these are bold enough to stand alone. It was love at first sight! Birthday and friendship messages round out this set that may never leave my desktop.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Remember, Hero Arts is giving away lots of fabulous 2011 stamps and all you need to do to enter is comment on any of the 24 participating blogs, including mine! More comments = more chances to win!

Next up is the blog of the fabulously talented Kristina Werner. Her designs always knock my socks off and I can't wait to see what she's done with the new stamps!

Happy hopping and happy weekend, everyone!

***Oh, and if you find a link that doesn't work, you can always hop back to the Hero Arts Blog for a list of direct links to all the blogs in the hop.***

so yeah...

I've set up a blog.

In other words...I caved. :)

Number one reason -- tomorrow's Hero Arts 2011 Catalog Blog Hop! I'll be participating, along with 23 other stampers (we're talking massive talent and amazing new stamps...wait until you see!)

So it dawned on me today that I should probably give the ol' blog a test drive. Not that anyone's here to read it...I'm pretty much talking to myself at this point. Just want to make sure I know how to publish a post with Blogger. For work, we use WordPress and it's a little different.

What to post though, when the only things I've made recently can't be shared quite yet? How about a tiny glimpse of what's in store for tomorrow's post! Here's a scrumptious snippet of the stamps I'll be using on my blog hop project...

Yum. These are all clings and will be in stores soon -- I've heard some stores already have them! These happen to be three of my favorites from the new Hero Arts catalog. I have about 50 other favorites that will hopefully be coming to a blog post near you someday soon. :)
