hero arts 2013 catalog blog hop

Hi and welcome to my stop on the Hero Arts 2013 Catalog Blog Hop! You should have arrived here from the fabulous BasicGrey Blog. If you're just joining us please head back to Hero Arts to start from the top so you don't miss a thing.

I always love seeing how stamps can be used in different ways so today I'm sharing "his & her" cards that each feature the same stamp -- the new Big Typewriter cling stamp (CG511). I kept them both very clean and simple in style but mixed up the colors and embellishments for entirely different looks.

Here's a closer look at the "she" version -- a retro pink typewriter (ooolala!) with some baker's twine and Rock Candy Stickles on the keys. Sparkly keys would definitely make typing more fun, yes? :)

And here's the "he" version -- decidedly masculine in kraft and black, with a touch of twine and metallic dots. The stripes at the bottom were created by stamping the new Pinstripe Background (S5729) onto the bottom quarter of the card with gray ink.

One fun trick with this typewriter stamp is how you can trim around it so that the paper curls. I shaped the paper around my little bottle of Stickles for a bit and the curve held up quite well. In this closeup you'll also catch a glimpse at two other new-for-2013 message sets -- Thanks a Bunch (CL663) and My Favorite (CL651). Lots and lots of great sentiments are included in both!

And here's a peek at all of the new stamps I used so that you can see what else is included in each set. I can't wait to use these on more cards soon -- nothing like new stamps to get the creativity flowing!

Thanks so much for visiting. Your next hop stop will be the amazingly talented Nichol Magouirk. If you encounter a broken link while hopping, you can go back to the beginning for links to everyone who's participating. Be sure to comment on each blog for a chance to win some awesome prizes from Hero Arts too!

Have a great day...and happy hopping! :)

a couple of fun things

Two weeks 'til Christmas. Can you believe it?! I have so many items on my to-do list that need to quickly turn to "to-dones"...hoping for a Christmas miracle. :)

Real quick...wanted to share two fun things!

1. Linda and Mary Dawn have put together a fantastic "Christmas-travaganza" feature over at A Blog Named Hero this year, inviting guests to share holiday projects each day. It's been AMAZING. And on Thursday I got to share a little something over there. A peek is shown below but you'll have to click over to A Blog Named Hero for the whole kit and caboodle and step-by-step photos. These are so easy to create! Kids can help too.

2. It's new catalog time at Hero Arts!! I'll be blog hopping along with 22 other crafty peeps this Friday, December 14th for the 2013 Catalog Blog Hop. This event has become an annual tradition where you get to see lots of the new 2013 stamps in action. I have a hand in organizing this and can't wait to see what everyone's created! It all starts at 10am Eastern time on the Hero Arts blog. Hope to see you on Friday!

Until then, take care and be merry. Happy holidays!

love for lila

A little bit of heaven arrived here on earth just over two weeks ago, and today I'm tickled pink to take part in a card shower celebrating this precious new life.

Welcome, Lila Grace McGuire!

I made this card for Lila's amazing mother Jennifer...who I wish I could wrap in a big joyful hug right now. Love you, Jennifer! Wishing you and your beautiful family days filled with joy, happiness, and laughter as you welcome Lila into your lives.

To view all of the cards for Jennifer in one place or add your own link, please visit Jana's blog. (Look for the links below the post.)

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!!

say hello to a blog named hero!

Hi there and Happy Friday! Today I'm honored to share in a week-long celebration to introduce A Blog Named Hero, a fun new stamping challenge blog Linda and Mary Dawn have launched. In their words, the blog
"...came about through Linda and Mary Dawn's mutual love of all things Hero Arts and a shared desire to celebrate and pay tribute to a company they love."
How awesome is that!? I'd say Hero Arts is pretty lucky to have such amazing fans. :)

As a guest designer, I got to create a card based on the theme of Playing Favorites. I'm currently loving anything and everything in the Hero Arts - Studio Calico collection. Here's a tiny peek at my card...

Head over to A Blog Named Hero to see the full card and check out what the rest of today's fabulous guest designers have come up with. While you're there, be sure to scroll down to see all of the week's gorgeous creations -- this is day 5 of the festivities! The blog is full of goodness already, with more great things to come. I'm looking forward to it. See you over there!
